Young people's health

    Dedicated to the positive mental health of children and adolescents and the adults in their life.

  • ORYGEN Youth Health
    Fact sheets for young people and professionals on the different mental disorders, and other information and resources on mental health and services available, advocacy and education. Also provides a clinical program to provide mental health assessment and treatment to young people aged 15-25 (Western metropolitan region of Melbourne).

  • Somazone
    Web site developed by young people for young people, with the assistance of the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF). It focuses on health issues and aims to empower young people to address their physical, emotional and social health needs in a way that is relevant, non-judgmental and anonymous.

    A state by state guide to health resources, statistics and information.

  • Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet
    Provides a variety of information relating to Indigenous health issues along with information about Australia's Indigenous population and their environment.

  • Better Health Channel
    Information includes health topics, local service directories, events calendar, health news and advice and healthy recipes.

  • VicHealth
    The official website of the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation.

Asthma

  • The Asthma Foundation of Victoria
    Asthma Victoria has many branches and support groups throughout the state. It has a range of useful printed material available, including training manuals, brochures and fact sheets.

Cancer

  • The Cancer Council Victoria
    Provides a wide range of information relating to cancer, including Victorian-related information and statistics. Other resources include information for health professionals, individuals and schools and articles on cancer fundraising events and latest news.

Cardiovascular health

  • Heart Foundation (Australia)
    Provides a comprehensive range of information relating to heart health including cholesterol control, high blood pressure and exercise information.
  • National Stroke Foundation
    The National Stroke Foundation provides information about stroke to the public and aims to raise the level of awareness in relation to the signs, risk factors, and prevention of our third largest killer. The Foundation also focuses on research. Strokesafe has been launched as an important public health campaign to help Australians become stroke aware.

Diabetes

  • Diabetes Australia
    Diabetes Australia forms part of a federation of 12 organisations - medical, education and scientific, research and community based, coordinated and facilitated through a national office in Canberra.

Epilepsy

  • Epilepsy Foundation of Victoria
    The foundation works to support people living with epilepsy in Victorian communities. This site contains a very useful 'links' section.
