About the Deakin Internship Scheme

The Deakin Internship Scheme (DIS) is an initiative of Deakin University's Human Resources Division (HRD).

The aim of the Scheme is to provide final year Deakin students with the opportunity to complete an internship within one of Deakin's administrative divisions, thus providing practical experience to help supplement your degree.

Areas that are involved in the DIS include:

• Chief Financial Officer Group
• Human Resources Division
• Information Technology Services Division
• Knowledge Media Division (details coming soon)
• Marketing Division

Each trimester areas with suitable tasks for interns advertise their internship opportunity on the Jobshop website. (Please note that not every area will be taking on interns every trimester.) You can also register your interest so that you are notified when applications open.

Successful students are then required to enrol into MIS390 / MIS391 – Business Internship Scheme so that they can earn a credit point towards your studies. Please contact Work Integrated Learning team for enrolment and eligibility details.

Internship placements consist of:

• 100 hours of experience, which can either be one day a week or condensed into a shorter period
• Work on a major project
• Participate in a range of operational responsibilities
• A ‘catch up day’ with other interns to share your experience
• A credit point towards your studies
• Valuable exposure and experience within your preferred industry.
