About the CFO group

The Chief Financial Officer has overall responsibility for the financial operations of the University; the finance function in Faculties, Institutes and Other Areas; commercial management; risk management and the University's insurance portfolio.

The CFO group comprises:

• Office of the Chief Financial Officer
• Financial Services Division
• Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance Services
• Commercial Management Unit (CFO Group)

The vision for the CFO group is to become a progressive enabler that provides financial and business leadership, support and oversight to the University by working closely with all Faculties, Institutes and Other Areas. Each year, the CFO Group develops priorities aligned with the University's Strategic and Operational Plans.

What an internship in the CFO group may involve:

A CFO Group internship can be completed either within the Commercial Management Unit, the Financial Services Division, or Corporate Governance, Risk and Compliance Services.

A CFO Group internship consists of:

• Work on a major research project - usually offered for completion in T1 or T2 OR
• Work within the Taxation team to assist in taxation accounting and compilation of annual documentation substantiation - offered for completion in T3 (can roll into T1)
• Participation in a range of operational responsibilities within the specific Unit or Division
• Actively participate as part of the CFO group 'team'
• 'Catch up days' with other Deakin interns
• Gain experience in an actual finance environment within a specific discipline of finance or risk management
• Earn one credit point towards your studies - enrol in either MIS390 / MIS391
