About Human Resources

The Human Resource Division's primary role is to support the achievement of Deakin's goals by ensuring that relevant and innovative people policies, practices and systems are in place so that Deakin can attract, retain and develop outstanding staff. Human Resources provide a wide range of services to managers and staff (and in some cases students) in areas such as recruitment, payroll, staff development, workplace relations, workforce planning and occupational health and safety.

In addition to the Director's Office, the Division is made up of 4 groups:

• HR Services
• HR Systems and Quality
• OHS and Wellbeing
• Organisational Strategy and Development

Human Resources Division pioneered the Deakin Internship Scheme and is committed to ensuring the scheme continues to grow and assist students in their career development.

What an internship in Human Resources Division may involve:

Over 20 students have completed their internship within Human Resources. Human Resources Division internships consist of:

• A major research project
• A 'buddy' to assist with your transition into the workforce
• A supervisor to assist with your project task
• Catch up day with other interns
• Formal presentation to management team
• Opportunity to assist in a range of other ad hoc tasks

Each trimester there is the opportunity for 1 - 4 internship opportunities.
