Students' gateway to Campus

Study Information

Who can go?

Exchange and Study Abroad programs are available to Deakin students that are:

  • Undergraduate
  • Postgraduate
  • International
  • Off-campus

To be eligible to apply for an Exchange or Study Abroad program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate students should have completed at least 8 credit points towards their Deakin degree (or have been granted advanced standing of 4 credit points or more)
  • Postgraduate students should have completed at least 4 credit points towards their Deakin degree
  • Return to at least 4 credits to complete at Deakin University after your exchange program
  • Study a full-time load overseas,  thus you must have enough credits to allow this in your degree
  • Have a credit average or above with no fails on your academic record.
  • You need the approval of your faculty to participate in the proposed Exchange or Study Abroad program

It is your responsibility to obtain a visa for your host country. Your participation in the Exchange or Study Abroad program is conditional on you obtaining the appropriate visa. If you are a student with non-Australian citizenship you may want to discuss your choice of host country with the Education Abroad office before you make a decision.

More about Postgraduate exchange

Many host universities limit the Exchange places offered to postgraduate students. You may be interested in participating in a short-term program instead.

If you are interested in undertaking a trimester-long Exchange, please contact the Education Abroad office to discuss whether there are possible host universities available that offer studies in your field.

Please note: Year-long Exchanges are not available for postgraduate students.
