Social Software

Social software enables large numbers of people to meet, communicate, share and collaborate through a website. Its general goal is to stimulate communication between a network of people.

Deakin supports social software applications including wikis, online discussions/blogs and virtual galleries:

  • Drupal-SMF
  • MediaWiki

Note: Social software will not be available in all units. However, all students enrolled for study at Deakin University are bound by the terms and conditions set out in the wiki re-use plain language statement.

Accessing a social software site via DSO

1. You will be given a link to your social software site in your DSO unit. Click on this link to access the site.
2. Enter your normal Deakin username and password, or if you have received special instructions, enter the username and password you have been given.

Note: If you are accessing a social software site via a Deakin computer, you will need to enter your Deakin user name and password before you can access the social software site to enter your login details.
