- About Deakin
iDeaL is a free online tool which you can use to find out which English language and communication skills programs and services at Deakin are most relevant and appropriate to your needs. It consists of several short tasks and should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete.
Your performance in iDeaL will not exclude you from any units you are enrolled in, and will not appear on your university transcript.
All new students, including students entering at postgraduate level, are required to complete iDeaL in their first week of study, regardless of their language background, school results or entry qualifications.
Note: if you are a commencing undergraduate student in the Faculty of Business and Law, you will be required to complete iDeaL as part of a unit, MCA 010
You will be required to enter your Deakin username and password and then asked to complete a series of short tasks. You will be given instructions and examples in each step along the way.
When you login to iDeaL you MUST NOT STOP until have completed all tasks and you SUBMIT
the reading task. Stopping or exiting at any point once you have logged into iDeaL
will invalidate, with an error, your result and you will be required to redo iDeaL from the start.
If there is a technical error while you are logged onto iDeal you will receive an email informing you to contact the iDeal administrator to reset your account.
On completion, iDeaL will send an email to your university e-mail account with information on your performance and on how to access the English language and communication skills programs and services most relevant and appropriate to your needs.
Be sure to follow up on the advice given to you in the iDeaL email as soon as possible. Remember, most of the programs and services at Deakin can be accessed at any time, so donít worry if it takes you a few weeks to settle in.
