Things to do before the start of classes

  • Follow your Orientation itinerary and attend each of your scheduled activities - they're all absolutely essential for making a great start.
  • Make sure your enrolment and personal details are correct on StudentConnect.
  • Start planning your time! Grab yourself a diary, use the weekly planner you received in your Orientation folder, and attend the 'Juggling Time' workshop during Orientation, to make every minute count.
  • Put money on your Deakin Card for printing, photocopying, coffee, lunch and lots more.
  • Check out your booklists and equipment that you'll need for your course...but don't rush in to buy them yet. You'll find out more about what to buy in your classes next week.
  • Find out about what transition programs are available in your Faculty or School, like peer mentoring or study groups.
  • Work out the best way to get to and from uni and time your trip so that you know when you need to leave home to get here on time.
  • Find out where your classes are going to be, and have a wander around them before classes start.
