The Risk Management area provides specialist risk management support and advice to the University’s organisational areas.
The Enterprise Risk Management strategy is a five year plan providing pathways to embed a supportive culture of risk identification and management to assist in achieving the University’s strategic goals. The strategy, through a comprehensive risk management program and implementation plan, builds on Deakin’s current risk management framework and integrates with the University’s budget and strategic planning processes.
Compliance obligations are managed through a university-wide compliance program, coordinated by the Risk and Compliance Manager. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible to the University Council for the management of the University’s compliance obligations and the Council receives an annual report on the status of the compliance program.
Each organisational area in the University is required to maintain a compliance register which lists the compliance obligations relevant to that area together with actions taken to achieve and maintain compliance. There are designated staff in each organisational area that have access to the compliance register database.
