Professor Batten is Director of IT Security research at Deakin University, and also holds the Deakin Chair in Mathematics. Her research includes a range of issues important to information technology security, including malicious software, data privacy and cryptographic protocols. She also works in the area of digital forensic investigations as there is a growing need in the industry for such investigations after an attack.
She is Associate Editor of the Journal of the Australian Mathematical Society and a founding board member of SECIA (secia.org). Lyn’s recent Research Projects are: classification of malicious software (supported by an Australian Research Council Linkage grant); wireless network recovery (supported by a grant from the Australian Defence Signals Directorate); preserving data privacy in the health industry (supported by an Australian Research Council Linkage grant); and development of authentication protocols in user-user scenarios in untrusted environments.
