Professor Ian Robottom is Associate Dean (International) in the Faculty of Arts and Education. Professor Robottom has an international reputation in community-based environmental education. He has directed several environmental education projects in Australia and abroad with funding from Australian government departments, AusAID, Australian Research Council, NH&MRC, the Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Committee and Canadian provincial governments. He has served on the editorial boards of several international research journals and has published widely in environmental education, science education and participatory approaches to social research. In 2005 he became the first Australian to receive the North American Association for Environmental Education Research Award for “Outstanding Contributions to Research in Environmental Education”. He is currently co-editing an International Handbook on Research in Environmental Education.

In his portfolio work in Internationalisation, Professor Robottom has responsibilities in establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with international institutions and government agencies creating opportunities for recruitment of cohorts of international students, collaborative research, and staff and student exchange. He has received two Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for outstanding achievements in Innternationalisation and in Teaching and Learning.
