Welcome to the Governance Unit

Dr Glenn Nicholls introduces you to the Governance Unit

The Governance Unit provides expert advice and secretariat services to the University’s central decision making bodies: the University Council, Academic Board and the Planning and Resources Committee.

The Unit is

Committee Resource Centre (for Deakin staff)

There are many people around the University who support committees, develop agendas, write agenda papers, arrange meetings and write minutes. The Governance Unit has developed a Committee Resource Centre to assist with these very important functions. The new Resource Centre provides access to templates for agendas, agenda papers, action sheets, minutes and business schedules. You will also find useful tips and guidelines relating to supporting committees and arranging meetings.

The Governance Unit offers training sessions to small teams on supporting committees. These sessions provide teams with the framework and tools to assist committees to function more smoothly and successfully. Please contact Emma Connan, Manager Governance and Committee Services to discuss a session for your team.

Members of the Deakin community seeking information or advice on governance are encouraged to contact the Unit.
