eLive privacy statement

Elluminate Live (eLive) is Deakin University's synchronous communications tool. It aims to enhance both on- and off-campus learning as it facilitates communication and collaboration between staff and students. It allows participants to talk over the Internet, chat online, share video, whiteboards, multimedia files and applications—all in one intuitive, graphical interface.

Moderators in eLive, that is, users who set up and facilitate sessions on eLive, can elect to record sessions. When the recording starts a red symbol will appear at the bottom of the session window indicating to all participants that the session is being recorded. The recording process captures everything in the session, and users who were invited to the session (and the moderator) will be able to download and playback the session recording by going to the eLive login page and accessing the 'Recordings' tab.  eLive administrators are also able to access recordings and may do so if necessary for system testing or support purposes.

When you login to eLive the University server keeps a record of your username, the time and date of your visit to eLive and the details of sessions you join or create.  The University uses this information for on-going administration and development of eLive, including the monitoring of traffic volumes, and to enhance the security of its systems.  For more about privacy see the University's website privacy statement.
