How to submit a website Assignment in Blackboard

Quick guide for students

 The Assignment tool allows Students to submit assignments by attaching a ZIP file containing linked HTML files that create a Website.

How to submit a website assignment

  1. Click on Assignments  in the Course Tools menu.

    Note: If Assignments  are not available in the Course Tools menu navigate to the required assignment from your unit Home Page and go to step 3.
  2. Click on the Inbox tab.
  1. Click on the Assignment to be submitted.
  2. In the Submission text box, fill in relevant information as identified in the instructions or in your Unit guide.
  3. Under Select ZIP file click on Add Attachments. The Content Browser pop-up window appears.
  4. After clicking Add Attachments, the Content Browser window will automatically open (if using Mozilla, this window may open behind the main window).
  5. If you have already uploaded your .zip file to your My Files, select the file and click OK.
  6. If you need to upload your .zip file, click on My Computer  , browse for and select the assignment .zip file and click Open. The file will automatically be uploaded into My Files and attached.
    Note: Try to limit the size of your uploaded files to 1 MB or less if possible. The allocated amount of space per student user is 20MB. You will not be able to upload files when submitting assignments unless there is enough space in My Files. To avoid any possible issues with uploading files to Blackboard please refrain from using any of the following characters (or spaces) in your file name:

  7. Your ZIP file will now appear above Start Page as a live link.
  8. To set the home page for your site, click Set Start Page. Select the file containing the start page, and click Select.
  9. To preview the start page, click Preview to ensure that your web site works appropriately.
  10. Fill in any comments as required in the Add Comment box.
  11. Click Submit.
  12. A window will appear asking "Are you sure you want to submit this assignment?", click OK.
  13. A confirmation window will appear if you have successfully submitted your assignment, click OK to complete your submission. You will be returned to the Inbox.
  14. Click on the Submitted tab, the assignment you have submitted should now appear under the Submitted tab in the Assignments tool.

Note: If you have successfully submitted an assignment, but it later reappears in your Inbox tab, your assessor may have returned it to you for further editing.

Tip: You must have Java installed to successfully submit your assignments. If you are having difficulty submitting your assignment or adding an attachment when submitting an assignment, go to the Getting Started page and follow the essential steps to correctly set up your computer for using DSO.
