What are the Deakin Engagement and Access Program activities?

The program caters for Year 9 - 12 students and includes:

  • VTAC's Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) workshops - informing Year 12 students of the processes they can use to improve their chances of gaining a university place
  • Deakin Experience Day -providing the opportunity for Year 10 and 11 students to spend a day at one of Deakin’s campuses. Transport is provided and schools can select from a range of academic enrichment and information activities to suit students’ needs
  • Deakin Achievement Awards - awards for Year 11 and 12 students. Schools nominate students with the potential to succeed at university but who, due to their circumstances, might not have considered further study
  • engagement with parents - informing families of the benefits of higher education and options for study at parent information nights and other events
  • academic enrichment - delivering tailored activities that integrate with the secondary curriculum that inspire and prepare students for university entry
  • school alumni connections -supporting schools to inspire and encourage existing students by connecting them with past students who are studying at Deakin University
  • professional development -facilitating opportunities for teachers and other school staff to refresh their understanding of university life and develop knowledge and skills to assist students’ transition to university
