Which schools can participate in the DEAP?

Partner schools have been selected on the basis of meeting a number of the following criteria:

  • low articulation to university by students, indicated by inclusion on the University's 2011 Under-Represented Schools List
  • socio-economically disadvantaged student catchment areas, indicated by Socioeconomic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA Index) values
  • regional location, indicated by Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) index values
  • proximity to a Deakin University campus
  • specific student cohorts or needs including students from refugee backgrounds or very low aspirations for university study
What do Principals say about DEAP?

"Emerald Secondary College has been thrilled to be part of Deakin University's Engagement and Access Program. It has greatly enhanced our students' awareness of the options available at Deakin University... I have no doubt that more of our students will be aware of the benefits of attending university and take up the various pathways as a result of Deakin's Access and Equity Programs."
