Our facilities

3D GAIT lab

Deakin's 3D GAIT lab boasts the most advanced form of motion analysis available. It's also the only lab in Australia that partners with the developers of 3D GAIT. This gives us access to the world's largest database of 3-dimensional biomechanical walking and running data.

Our GAIT lab facility is also open to the public. We welcome athletes of all levels and help them optimise their movements when they walk or run.

Food sensory labs

Students studying nutrition sciences have access to the food sensory labs at the Centre of Advanced Sensory Science (CASS). They work alongside world-leading researchers and experience the practical elements of their future careers.

Deakin Clinical Exercise Centre

The benefits of exercise for people with health conditions is one of our key areas of research and teaching.

At the Deakin Clinical Exercise Centre (DCEC), students of our Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology course work with real clients from the local community.

Also open to the public, the centre helps people with disabilities, injuries and illnesses bring exercise into their lives. We provide one-on-one consultations and group sessions.

Specialised Indoor Exercise and Sport Science Building

The Specialised Indoor Exercise and Sport Science Building houses clinical space, exercise stations, tutorial space, staff offices and innovative laboratories across four levels.

Undergraduate students use the facilities on levels three and four to fulfil the course requirements for their bachelor degrees, while masters students work with clients on level one and research students operate from offices on level two.
