Deakin Melbourne Boomers
In September 2015, Deakin University became a naming rights partner of the Melbourne Boomers, a national women's basketball team.
The partnership is an exciting opportunity for our students, who can undertake work placements with the team and for the local community.
The school is working closely with the club in areas of coaching, sports science, high performance management and athlete development, and to promote and profile women in sport.
Just a handful of our other partners
The Cancer Council Victoria
The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences conducts collaborative research projects with the Cancer Council Victoria. We also provide research evidence to inform their policies and programs.
Diabetes Australia (Victoria)
Some of our researchers currently have Diabetes Australia-funded research grants, and we often use Diabetes Australia to recruit research participants. We also provide research evidence to inform their policies and programs.
Heart Foundation
Academics from our school sit on the Heart Foundation's advisory committees. As well as providing expert advice and guidance, we run research projects with the foundation. A number of our researchers also hold Heart Foundation-funded fellowships.
VicHealth
VicHealth is the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation. A highly visible organisation around Victoria, VicHealth runs campaigns and advises the government on good health and chronic disease. Members of our school also conduct research for VicHealth.
BioLAB
BioLAB is a Victorian education centre that aims to engage and inspire the next generation in science and mathematics.
The centre runs a highly popular program for Years 10–12 called The Winning Edge at our Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus. Pupils use our facilities to measure force, perform gait analysis and investigate the human body.
