Typically, financial planning graduates work in financial planning firms, accounting firms and financial institutions. The opportunities for graduates with a financial planning discipline are ever increasing in Australia.
By completing the appropriate units graduates are eligible to join the Financial Planning Association of Australia. Students are advised to consult with one of the Faculty’s course advisers to identify the appropriate units in the financial planning major.

Qualification for RG146 in the Financial Planning Major
The Financial Planning Association (FPA) has accredited the Deakin Bachelor of Commerce (major in Financial Planning) for entry to the Certified Financial Planner’s (CFP) Program.
All students who complete the Bachelor of Commerce with a Financial Planning major will satisfy the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s (ASIC) RG146 requirements at Tier 1 level in the competencies listed for each of the relevant units. ASIC website.
