Geelong Accommodation Relocation Strategy (GARS)

The Geelong Accommodation Relocation Strategy (GARS) is an exciting opportunity to consolidate and reshape Deakin’s Geelong operations. GARS involves the relocation of Faculty activities and transformation of spaces for a number of different groups, creating a centre of excellence for the Faculty of Business and Law at the Waterfront Campus, and enabling an effective amalgamation for Health and Science at the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus.

GARS 1 - the enabling works - consolidated administration and support functions at the Waterfront Campus into Levels 4, 5 and 6 of the Dennys Lascelles Building. This released space in the John Hay Building for teaching and other student-centred activities.

Business and Law Relocation

GARS 2 is the first major phase of this change, which involved the relocation of the Faculty of Business and Law from the Waurn Ponds Campus to the Waterfront. The vacated areas of the John Hay Building have been renovated and refurbished. Teaching of Law, Commerce, Management and Information Systems commenced in the Central Business District of Geelong from Trimester 1, 2013.
