Facilities Services functions

The Facilities Services Division recently restructured its groups into the following key areas:

The Division’s groups provide facilities management and support across Deakin's four campuses, and aim to anticipate and meet the needs of the University, its students, staff and partners.

The diagram below demonstrates the relationships between the four functional groups within Facilities Services Division within a theoretical ‘life cycle of an asset (such as a building).

  • Space Management Systems understands the current and future needs of occupiers, and informs Campus Planning how to factor these needs into the strategic asset management plan for each campus.
  • Once a scheme is developed by Space and Campus Planning and approved, Capital Projects manages the delivery of the project.
  • During the development of the project, Capital Projects elicits input from Asset Maintenance and Renewal to ensure the future building (fabric and mechanical plant) addresses the ongoing maintenance requirements of the University.
  • Upon completion of each project, Asset Maintenance and Renewal assumes the ongoing responsibility for the building.

The Facilities Services Partnership Agreement outlines the services the Division is funded to provide and the roles and responsibilities of other areas in relation to those services. Feedback is welcome at any time via the online feedback form.
