Deakin University aims to create an inclusive working and learning environment. Part if its obligation under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1992 is to improve the accessibility of the University and the existing built environment.

Access Consultants from Equal Access Pty Ltd, Bruce Bromley, Lee Wilson and Con Livanos will be undertaking access audits of the following buildings on the Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus commencing in Monday 22 April & 29 May 2013.

Return to the top of the page Office refurbishment Level 1, Building D - Warrnambool

Starts 01/05/2013, finishes 01/07/2013

Works to refurbish Level 1 of Building D at the Warrnambool Campus are scheduled to commence in early May with an expected completion date of 1 July 2013.

The areas to be refurbished are rooms D1.44 to D1.52. Works will include demolition of internal walls, install new carpet, painting, new workstations and partitions and refurnish the kitchen area.

We shall endeavour to keep any noise or inconvenience caused by the works to a minimum.

Return to the top of the page Toilet refurbishments in Hay Building, level 2 and 3 - Waterfront

Starts 05/04/2013, finishes 01/07/2013

The following toilets will be closed for refurbishment from Monday 8 April until June 2013:

  • Hay Level 2 toilets next to security office.  Alternatives toilets are available on level 2 behind Deakin Central and on level 1near the Waterfront Kitchen.
  • Hay level 3 toilets out the front of the library.  Alternative toilets are available on level 3 inside the library and on level 3 inside the teaching space hub.
  • Hay level 3 female toilets out the front of Costa Hall.  Alternative toilets are available on level 3 inside Costa Hall and on level 2 next to Costa Hall.

Facilities Services Division apologises for any inconvenience.

Starts 18/03/2013, finishes 31/05/2013

Works to rectify Waverly House on the corner of Gheringhap Street and Western Beach Road, Geelong are scheduled to commence on Monday 18 March with an expected completion date of 31 May 2013.

The work will include rectification of external facades (roofing, windows and doors) and painting.

We shall endeavour to keep any noise or inconvenience caused by the works to a minimum.

Return to the top of the page Energy Audits - Burwood/Warrnambool/Waterfront/Waurn Ponds

Starts 11/02/2013, finishes 30/11/2013

Consultants from GHD will be conducting a series of energy audits across all buildings at all campuses which will include a visual inspection of all spaces and monitoring power consumption.

This is to collect and review current energy use per building and the resultant recommendations will be used to assist with future building upgrades with the aim of improve energy efficiency.
