Each year Facilities Management Services Division (FMSD) holds a Team-building Day. All members of the Division dedicate one day of labour to do something tangible for others in the community that are less fortunate than themselves.
This year a "Kids Day Out" was staged in association with the Salvation Army’s "Red Shield Appeal". The day involved 200 special kids from the Geelong region including Barwon Valley School , Nelson Park and Rosewall Primary School , coming together at the Geelong campus at Waurn Ponds.
There was a choice of activities for the day including a jumping castle, football clinic, the building of Fred Flintstone cars and planting tables, face painting, karaoke, and many, many more. The day went off in true FMSD style, without a hitch! The Geelong Football Club’s “Half Cat” even made an appearance – thanks Half Cat! Several staff donned costumes and, along with the hundreds of balloons and show bags that were given out to the children, a sea of colour was seen on campus.
Prior to the day, as part of the lead up to the days activities, a fundraising initiative took place to raise money for the” Red Shield Appeal". This raised a $3,000 donation which was presented to the Salvation Army at the closing of the day’s events. Congratulations to Natalie Stone who sold 6 boxes of Cadbury chocolates, taking first place in the Chocolate Challenge Award! Congratulations also to Steve Dawber who won a prize donated by the Surfcoast Resort Hotel in Angelsea.
We would like to say thank you to the many generous sponsors who helped make the day a success: A C Goulding, Ace Contractors, Apps Electrics, Brian Sherwell & Associates P/L, Circus 3230, Deca Constructions, DBF Tools, Detail 3 Architectural Facilitators, Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Gordon McKay, GRV Printers, H2O Architects, Hirotec Maintenance Pty Ltd, John R Salt, McGlashan Everist, Melbourne Sumos, Print Comm, Reid Engineering, Rimmington & Association, Royal Eagle Security, Rutledge Engineering, Signal & Hobbs, Surfcoast Resort Hotel, West Coast Windows, Wilde & Woollard, Wilson Services and Wycombe Group.
