All vehicles parking on Deakin University campuses between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday require a current parking permit, with the exception of a limited number of free parking spaces at the Geelong and Warrnambool campuses.
Permits should be placed on the left-hand side of the windscreen. Please ensure that the permit is visible at all times and is not obscured by window tinting, sunshades or sunvisors. The purchase of permits can be in the form of:
You can park your vehicle in a defined car parking bay, within an officially designated parking area. Signs posted at the entrance to each car park clearly define who may park there. Fines may be imposed on vehicles parked outside marked bays, for example, against kerbs or on grassed areas.

All campus users require a University parking permit to park on campus. Some conditions apply to different users – these include:
Invited
Official VisitorsFaculties and Divisions are issued with a quota of daily permits free of charge for ‘official visitors’ at the start of each year. You should see your Faculty or Division to obtain a permit in advance for your visitor. This allows your visitor to park in yellow, blue or red zones or disabled bays (council issued disabled parking permit must also be displayed) and must be displayed on the vehicles dashboard. Additional permits are available if this supply is exhausted but must be purchased from Facilities Management at the day permit rate.
If you have parked your car some distance from your office and need to work after sundown you can move your vehicle to a parking bay (blue or red) closer to the building after 4.30pm. Parking permits are not required after this time.
If you are in need of assistance in a car park, Deakin Security can be contacted on 222 or on 1800 062 579. You should also report any person observed acting suspiciously in a car park to Deakin Security. You can minimize the risk to yourself in the car park by:
If you discontinue studies or employment during the year of issue of the permit no refund is available. You are permitted to sell your permit to another campus user but this should only occur if you have retained the original receipt issued by the Cashier's Office. Orange permits may only be on-sold with prior approval of Facilities Management. If an orange permit is on-sold without Facilities Management approval, there is no guarantee that the purchaser will receive a reserved space the following year.
If you receive a parking infringement you have two options available to you:
All campuses are governed by the Road Safety Act (1986), as are all Victorian roads. This means that you must obey all road rules, signs and speed limits.
A speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour applies on all campus roads. Car parks have posted speed limits of 10 or 20 kilometres per hour.
Victoria Police have the right to issue infringement notices for traffic offences on campus roadways.
