Students with a disability or health condition

Deakin University is strongly committed to social justice and fairness in education, and provides a range of services tailored to individual student needs. If you have a health condition or a disability that may impact on your studies, it is important that you contact the Disability Resource Centre early for information and advice and to apply for services, as these may take time to arrange. You should also click on the ‘Statistics about you’ link in the sidebar menu of StudentConnect when you enrol, and complete the question about health conditions.

Disability Resource Centre (DRC)

The Disability Resource Centre (DRC) can help your transition to university life and improve your chances of success. DRC staff will be available on enrolment day to speak with you and provide more information about DRC services, which include:

  • academic support workers such as note-takers and sign interpreters
  • alternative assessment arrangements, such as extra writing time and/or rest breaks in exams
  • study materials in accessible formats
  • help with assistive technology and training
  • information about accessible parking, extended library services, scholarships, and so on.

For further details, or to make an appointment to speak with a Disability Liaison Officer, visit http://www.deakin.edu.au/current-students/services/disability/index.php, go to the DRC office on your campus, or contact the DRC on: 03 9244 6300  / drcentre@deakin.edu.au
