If your application to study at Deakin is successful you will be sent comprehensive information and instructions on how to enrol in your course and who to contact for help.
If it is not the right time for you to commence your studies, or you need to take a break from your studies, Deakin University will normally allow you to defer the commencement of your course for up to 24 months, for most courses. This means you can postpone your studies, but still retain your place at the University.
Deakin has also introduced a gap year program to help you make the most of your time away from study, whilst giving you the opportunity to kick start your career. For more information, please visit Deakin's gap year program web site.
Deferrals cannot be processed once you have accepted your offer and enrolled in units. If you have enrolled and now wish to defer your place, you should contact your Faculty Enrolment Officer to discuss your options.
Please read the information at the Enrolling at Deakin web site as request for deferral are made online.
Complete the Deakin Deferral Form (70 KB) to defer your offer and return it within 5 days of receiving your offer. You should not accept or enrol in the course online if you wish to defer.
International students who wish to defer the commencement of their course prior to enrolment, should contact the staff member listed on their Letter of Offer.
