In addition, studies in business and management seek to develop the generic management skills of communication, problem solving, planning, organising, managing change and working co-operatively with others.

The Faculty and Business and Law offers an extensive range of study options in the following areas: accounting, accounting information systems, business information systems, business security management, commercial law, eBusiness, economics, facilities management, finance, financial planning, health informatics, human resource management, interactive marketing, international business, international trade and economic policy, management, marketing, professional practice, quantitative business analysis, sport management, supply chain management, technology management and tourism.
Areas of postgraduate study in business and management include accounting, accounting information systems, arts and entertainment management, business administration (MBA), commerce, executive development - intensive MBA studies, financial planning, human resources, information systems, insurance and risk management, international business, international finance, law, management, marketing, personal injury management and sport management.
The Faculty of Business and Law offers the Honours program in disciplines including accounting, economics, finance, human resource management, information systems, law, management, marketing and sport management.
We offer numerous combined course options at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Our combined courses allow an increased choice of study areas, and an opportunity to either specialise in inter-related discipline areas across two faculties, and/or to broaden your educational base.
We offer candidature in Higher Degrees by Research including Master of Commerce (MCom), Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Economics (MEc)
and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Industry learning
Our courses are designed and continually updated in close consultation with the business industry, professional groups and advisory boards.
We ensure our courses are relevant to the current and emerging needs of employers and students learn from lecturers with specialist skills developed from their work with outside agencies, their research and community involvement.
Most of Deakin’s undergraduate Business courses incorporate a Business Internship Program, which provides you with a realistic business experience in your area of specialisation and enhances employability.
Postgraduate students have access to programs through the Deakin Graduate School of Business such as the Business Practicum Program and the Postgraduate Internship.
Within the Master of Business Administration programs, you can choose to undertake some units in the style of five-day intensive, live-in units as part of the Graduate School of Business Residentials. These are held at the Deakin Management Centre at Deakin's Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds.
Professional recognition
Depending on the selection of units, and providing you meet the specified requirements within the course, graduates can satisfy the educational requirements for membership or associate membership of a number of professional associations. These include the Australian Computer Society, the Financial Planning Association, the Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Program of CPA Australia, the CA program of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA), the National Institute of Accountants (NIA) Professional Accounting Program, the Economics Society of Australia and the Australian Marketing Institute.
