Our courses

We offer a range of courses in information technology.

At an undergraduate level, our Bachelor of Business Information Systems focuses on the business usage applications of information technology and the management of large quantities of information and the way in which this impacts on modern organisations. Our Bachelor of Information Technology allows you to specialise in computer science and software development, games design and development, IT security or multimedia technology. We also offer the Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) and the Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional Practice).

Postgraduate courses include the Master of Information Technology, Master of Information Technology (Professional), Master of Networking and Security, and Master of Information Systems.

Industry links
Our strong links with industry will assist you to build the career of your choice in IT or business information systems and the opportunity to work for a range of Australian and international corporations. Academic advisory boards include industry representatives who help us revise our curriculum regularly to ensure it remains relevant.

Deakin University has strong partnerships with industry, involving collaborative activities with government bodies, public and private organisations, and other universities. These partnerships ensure that our courses remain relevant to industry, and students learn from lecturers with specialist skills developed by their work with outside agencies, their research and community involvement.

In addition, many courses have internships or work experience programs which will help you to apply your knowledge while you study. Completing a business internship gains you credit towards your degree but doesn't extend the length of your studies. Internships provide you with valuable business experience in your area of specialisation, allowing you to apply your skills and knowledge, and enhances your employment prospects.
