Course overview
This is a supervised research program. The research of each candidate is conducted under the supervision of a full-time member of the academic staff. Candidates are required to participate in an oral colloquium about one third of the way through candidature in which the proposed research is defended, and will ultimately to submit a thesis embodying the results of their research. The thesis may be a single volume of disciplinary scholarship or a folio consisting of an exegesis and two to four research products relating to professional practice.MA candidates showing significant promise as research students may be invited to transfer their enrolment to the Doctor of Philosophy program. Areas in which research supervision may be available are provided in the descriptions for these doctoral courses.
Entry requirements - general
Applicants must have demonstrated evidence of a high standard of research ability. This is normally an Honours year to H2B (60%+) standard or a research masters degree. However, other evidence of research ability may be considered, and could include a thesis as part of an international undergraduate degree or coursework masters; relevant refereed publications; research awards; or research experience. Applicants require a bachelor degree with good honours (H2B), or a masters degree in education containing a research paper or minor thesis, or other qualifications/ research publications approved as equivalent. All enrolled candidates are required to participate in a Faculty Online Seminar Program.
