M537 Graduate Certificate of Chartered Accounting Foundations (GCCAF) is currently being proposed for discontinuation. The final intake will be Trimester 2 2014.
Deakin University have received confirmation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) that the Deakin GCCAF is exempt from the additional knowledge areas of Accounting Information Systems, Business Economics and Quantitative Methods until 2014.
M720 Master of Professional Accounting is an alternative pathway to membership of professional accounting bodies.
Deakin’s Graduate Certificate of Chartered Accounting Foundations provides an opportunity for non-accounting graduates to pursue a career in one of the most rewarding and prestigious professions, chartered accounting.
The course has been developed to meet the requirements of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. Deakin University works together with the Institute to address the skills shortage in this area.
Completion of this course will enable you to acquire a basic grounding in financial accounting, management accounting, finance, taxation, auditing, commercial law and corporations law, so that they can enter the Institute's Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting (GradDipCA). The CA Program is only available in Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.

Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Chartered Accounting Foundations will enable you to enter The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia's Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting (the CA Program).
The course comprises 4 credit points of study (eight core units worth 0.50 credit points each) and can be completed in one year of part-time study.

Completion of a tertiary program equivalent to not less than 3 years of full-time study at a university or other approved educational institution.
The University aims to provide students with as much credit as possible for approved prior study or informal learning which exceeds the normal entrance requirements for the course and is within the constraints of the course regulations. Students are required to complete a minimum of one-third of the course at Deakin University, or four credit points, whichever is the greater. In the case of certificates, including graduate certificates, a minimum of two credit points within the course must be completed at Deakin.
