Deakin University's Postgraduate Qualifying Program (PQP) will develop the core skills you need for success at selected postgraduate level courses at Deakin.
The Deakin University Postgraduate Qualifying Program is a non-award program designed to provide a quality pathway to Deakin University's postgraduate programs in Information Technology. Other pathways include Business and Engineering.
Combining English language training and academic studies, the PQP is designed for students whose academic qualifications and/or English proficiency levels are marginally below the entry requirements for postgraduate programs at Deakin University.
The PQP is taught by the Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology (MIBT) and Deakin University's English Language Institute (DUELI). Both institutions are co-located in a new purpose built building on Deakin University's Melbourne Campus at Burwood with state-of-the-art classroom facilities.
The emphasis is on developing the skills necessary for success at postgraduate level. Students who complete the particular pathways within the PQP will meet the academic and English language requirements for entry into specified coursework postgraduate programs at Deakin University.

Minimum admission requirements for the PQP programs are outlined below. For specific academic standard requirements, and requirements for countries not listed, please refer to Entry Requirements and Applying.
Completion of three year post-secondary study qualification (equivalent to post-Year 12).

Other relevant training and minimum 2 years of relevant work experience may also be accepted.
English language proficiency requirements
An overall band score of 6 or better in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test (Academic module) with no individual band score less than 6; or equivalent. A full listing of the University’s undergraduate English language requirements is available online at
