Prerequisite:

ALC101 and ALC102 or ACM101 and ACM102, and one unit from ACM132, ACM133, ACM116, ACM120, ACN108, ACV110, and permission from the unit chair to enrol.

Please note that study tour units may not run each year. Enrolment is always subject to a selection process and approval by the Unit Chair as places are limited. Therefore students should always identify another unit as an alternative to  a study tour  unit when planning their course or major.

Total contact hours per week: Pre-tour 4 hours; On tour average 6 hours with several rest days scheduled in between; and Delivery method – intensive mode.

Content

This unit has a focus on the way the specific locations of media production recommend a sense of ‘place’ in different media forms (film, TV, online media, music) and the way this sense of place encounters other places as these media forms are exported around the globe.

Assessment

Self-presentation exercise: Blog ‘About’ Sections, 1200 words or equivalent, 30%.

Blog Journal, 1400 words or equivalent, 35%.

‘Scene Study’ Group Project and Presentation 1400 words or equivalent 35%.
