Content

This unit in the practice and theory of multimedia journalism focuses on news reporting processes. It looks at professional, social and legal factors that impact on reporting of local, regional and national news. The unit introduces students to key staples of local news media, including stories about crime, accidents, politics, business and sport. Students will also engage with social media tools to report and produce multimedia news packages to a deadline.

Assessment

Multimedia news site analysis 20%;

Reporting a news story using social media tools 30%;

Reporting a video based news story with transcript 50%
