1 x 2 hour Class per week for 10 weeks, 1 x 2 hour Seminar per week for 5 weeks.

Professional experience: Students will be required to complete a 10 day professional experience placement. (1 full week then 1 day per week for 5 weeks)

This unit will consist of online, theory and practical components as well as a professional experience placement. The unit will focus on the understanding of the theoretical foundation of pedagogy as well as curriculum issues in Years 7-10 HPE. Specifically, policies and frameworks that guide planning and teaching of physical education, health and wellbeing in the secondary school will be considered in the development of units of work appropriate to a real learning context.  The unit will also focus on the challenges of managing and teaching within a diverse classroom and catering for individuals’ needs, in both the physical education environment and in the health classroom.


Contemporary issues in HPE 50%.

Group unit of work 25%.

Teaching and personal reflection of teaching 25%.

Hurdle Requirement: Satisfactory completion of the professional experience placement is required in order to pass this unit
