This unit explores a range of perspectives on theories that underpin the design of professional learning programs for educators and trainers in schools and workplaces. The intention is to build capacities around professional learning through reading literature in the field and engaging in critical reflection of professional learning programs. Through the learning involved students will become more self sufficient in managing their personal professional learning and be prepared to contribute to the development of effective professional learning programs for themselves and for their work places. The unit aims to support students to develop awareness of the centrality and significance of professional learning to every profession and every professional, provide opportunities to test assumptions and beliefs about Professional Learning within a conceptual framework that enables meaningful contributions to the field, connect with immediate work place needs and explore issues in a range of settings/contexts; and link theory  and practice to professional learning contexts.
