HBS345 - Interprofessional Collaboration in Health Care

1 x 1.5 hour cloud (online) seminar per fortnight
This is an interprofessional education unit involving students from Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Dietetics, Clinical Exercise Physiology and Medicine. Students partake in two streams of study: the self-directed IPE stream and the interactive case conference stream.
In the self-directed IPE stream students will undertake a range of guided experiential learning activities to explore the key themes of Interprofessional Collaboration including what is interprofessional collaboration, health professionals roles, understanding your own and others' personal styles, roles of team members, teams and team development, leadership in collaborative teams, assertiveness and conflict management.
In the interactive case conference stream students are allocated into virtual interprofessional teams of approximately eight students from each of the professions involved. In these teams students will discuss key interprofessional collaboration issues via CloudDeakin discussions and manage cases via four case conferences in eLive.
Assessment task 1: Self-directed stream assessment – reflective pieces (2000 words) 50%
Assessment task 2: Interactive case conference stream assessment - Care plan development including Blackboard Collaborate case conferences, Care plan CloudDeakin discussions and finalised team care plans 30%
Assessment task 3: Interprofessional collaboration CloudDeakin discussion points 20%
