1 x 2 hour class and 1 x 2 hour seminar session every fortnight. For Warrnambool students the 2 hour seminar will be e-lived.
Building on concepts introduced in HSE203, HSE316 focuses on the benefits of physical activity from an epidemiological perspective. Using Hill’s Criteria for Causation students explore the evidence of the independent roles physical activity and sedentary behaviour play in primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of chronic disease. Contemporary issues in physical activity and health are explored, in particular in relation to promoting physical activity.
Assessment task 1: Individual assignment (1500 words) 30%
Assessment task 2: Group oral presentation (debate) 50% (20% of which is awarded based on individual presentation and reflection; 30% of which is awarded based on the overall group presentation)
Assessment task 3: Seminar activities 20%
