Content
Knowledge is considered by many experts to be the key competitive differentiator for businesses. This unit provides an understanding of the key principles and practices involved in managing individual, collective and organisational knowledge in organisations. Students will gain an understanding of the key advantages and disadvantages of a range of knowledge strategies, processes, technologies and systems. The human aspects of knowledge management, such as how to motivate employees to share knowledge, will be carefully considered. Students explore a range of managerial, social and technological infrastructure which supports knowledge management. They will learn how to evaluate knowledge management in organisations and will be able to make appropriate recommendations for improvement. The unit will also address the alignment of knowledge management strategy with other important corporate strategies and processes.
Assessment
Assignment (Contribution to Online Discussion/Tutorial Activities) 10%, Written Assignment 3000 words 30%, Examination 2 hours 60%, Hurdle requirement: achieve at least 50% of the marks available on each item of assessment.
