The Associate Degree of Arts, Business and Sciences offers your son or daughter the opportunity to commence tertiary education with additional support and upon completion, provides a pathway into further study or the skills to gain employment. They will benefit from the chance to study close to home in state-of-the-art facilities with small class sizes and additional academic support throughout the course.
A university qualification provides your child with the opportunity to advance their career pathway, giving them skills that are transferable across a range of industries and occupations. The Associate Degree is designed to provide students the opportunity to obtain a university qualification.
Your child may use the Associate Degree as a stepping stone into further study. Deakin will guarantee a place in a relevant degree at our Warrnambool Campus or via off campus study, and upon successful completion of the Associate Degree, students will benefit from up to 18 months credit. Your child will have the opportunity to gain entry into their desired course regardless of their ATAR or absence of prerequisite studies.
Your child may be interested in starting their career. This course prepares them for the workforce with students having the option to undertake a mentored work placement in their final trimester to assist them in forming industry networks and gaining valuable work experience.
Deakin is proud to increase access to university across the state. In 2010 the Associate Degree was offered in conjunction with our TAFE partners; Advance TAFE - Bairnsdale Chisholm - Dandenong and SuniTAFE - Swan Hill with new campuses in 2011 including South West TAFE - Portland, GOTAFE - Wangaratta and Chisholm – Mornington Peninsula, where students will study the course concurrently with a Diploma qualification. A $1,000 Learning and Development Scholarship is offered at each of the seven locations for 2012. Applications are now open and close on 10th March 2012.
Students wishing to study at the Warrnambool Campus, or through our partner TAFEs in Bairnsdale, Mornington Peninsula, Dandenong, Swan Hill, Portland, Wangaratta can apply via direct application (379 KB) to Deakin for the associate degree. Students applying for one of our TAFEs must also follow application procedures for the relevant Diploma course.
