English Language Programs at DUELI

English for Academic Purposes 1-4 (EAP 1-4 )
5 – 20 weeks
A direct–entry pathway to Deakin University’s undergraduate, postgraduate and study abroad programs.
 
General English 1-9 (GE 1-9)
5 – 45 weeks
For students who wish to develop their overall English language skills for personal and professional use.

English for Specific Purposes

IELTS Preparation
5 weeks
Preparation for students who need to undertake the IELTS test to meet the English language requirements for entering university.
 
English for TESOL
10 weeks (May to July and November –February only)
The English for TESOL Program is a 10 English language program for high level students with IELTS 5.5 (no band lower than 5.5) or above.
 
Intensive Academic Preparation (IAP)
5 weeks
For students who have met the English language requirements but who wish to get better prepared for the Australian university system.
 
Business English
5 weeks

Please note that Placement into all DUELI classes is based on the results of the DUELI Placement Test taken upon arrival.

Key

  • GE: General English
    (Students in the General English stream are eligible to advance two levels if they attain a result of 80% or more. General English students wishing to transfer to the EAP stream must pass their current General English class and attain the appropriate timed writing result to be eligible.)
  • EAP: English for Academic Purposes
    (Students in EAP1 or EAP 2 are eligible to advance two levels if they attain 80% or more on their final result)
  • IAP: Intensive Academic Preparation program
    (For students who have met the English language requirements of their award course program.
  • BE: Business English
  • IELTS: IELTS Preparation
