English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Duration: 5-20 weeks (each program is five weeks in length)
Requirements: Students must have a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 with no band score lower than 4.5 (or equivalent) to enter the EAP stream

DUELI's EAP program provides an excellent link to Deakin's undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Students can meet the English language requirements of Deakin undergraduate, postgraduate and study abroad courses by successfully completing an EAP direct-entry pathway program at DUELI.

The EAP pathway

The EAP pathway program consists of four levels of EAP courses, and has been designed to assist students who wish to enter Deakin University's undergraduate and postgraduate programs to meet their English language requirements.

The EAP pathway program at DUELI prepare students to fully participate in academic life. It also helps students to learn about university academic expectations and ensures that students develop the skills necessary for academic success, including:

EAP 1

Provides the first step for meeting the English language requirements of Deakin University's award course programs.
Entry requirement: IELTS 4.5 with no band lower than 4.5 (or equivalent)

EAP 2

Provides the second step for meeting the English language requirements of Deakin University's award course programs and is the English language direct-entry pathway to MIBT's diploma program.
Entry requirement: IELTS 5.0 with no band lower than 5.0 (or equivalent)

EAP 3

Students who successfully complete EAP 3 with a final result of 60% or more will have met the English language requirements of the University's undergraduate award courses.
Entry requirement: IELTS 5.5 with no band lower than 5.5 (or equivalent)

EAP 4

Students who successfully complete EAP 4 with a final result of 60% or more will have met the English language requirements of the University's postgraduate award courses.
Entry requirement: IELTS 6.0 with no band lower than 6.0 (or equivalent)
