After running her own public relations company in her home country of Colombia, Maria del Pilar Bonilla decided she needed to improve her English. Maria enrolled in DUELI's Academic English Program, and has been delighted with the results. "I was able to improve my vocabulary, listening and verbal communication skills through the Academic English Program, while learning about Australian slang and Australian culture", she said, adding, "now I know what 'good on you' means!".
Maria has also been pleased to live in Melbourne. "Melbourne is a very nice city with lots of cultural activities, festivals, is comfortable and secure, and has a great transport system," she says.
Following her DUELI course, Maria is considering moving into a Master of Public Relations or Master of Arts Management course at Deakin. Her advice to future students? "Be positive and adventurous, and come and soak up all that Melbourne has to offer."
