Deakin's new trimester program heralds greater flexibility

In another innovation to increase flexibility for international students, Deakin has adopted a trimester program for teaching. This will enable you to start many Deakin courses at three different times each year - in March, in July and in November. For 2010-2011, the trimester dates are as follows:

Teaching Dates
Trimester 1
8 March 2010 - 18 May 2010
Trimester 2
12 July 2010 - 22 October 2010
Trimester 3 (Summer)
15 November 2010 - 25 February 2011

The new program has many advantages for students.
You will be able to:

  • commence certain courses up to three times each year
  • where available, balance your enrolment across three trimesters
  • use the additional teaching period to graduate sooner
  • catch up and finish a course on time if your study has been disrupted by illness or other events.

Because of visa restrictions and course rules, not all these advantages will be available to all students and in all courses. However, most students will enjoy greater flexibility to arrange their studies to suit their needs and circumstances. It is another example of Deakin leading the field by giving its students more choice and greater freedom to realise their dreams.
