Beach Welcome Program

Beach Welcome Program

The Twelve Apostles

We know that it can be stressful to move to the other side of the world and study at a new university so we've introduced a relaxing three-day Welcome Program to help you settle in. This Program, for exchange and study abroad students only, is designed specially to make the transition into Australian culture and university life as smooth and enjoyable as possible. And it's free!

After you've settled into your accommodation, we head down to the coast on a Monday morning with a bunch of Australian students who have studied abroad themselves, allowing you to get a flavour of Australian hospitality and the chance to meet new friends.

We travel along the Great Ocean Road, voted by Conde Nast Traveller magazine as the top 'must do' great drive of the world. This coastline is truly a spectacular sight marked by one 'kodak moment' after another. You also get to see Australia's most famous surf beach, Bells Beach, on the Surf Coast.

Learning to surf

We will based in the resort town of Lorne for three days and two nights. There will be opportunities for you to participate in a range of activities including surfing lessons, hiking through the temperate rainforest and sightseeing along the Great Ocean Road. You will also be able to rub shoulders with the locals at the local pub, or simply relax on the beach and hang out with your new friends. This is a great opportunity for you to relax and soak up the ambience of this wonderful country!

The Program also features useful sessions on making the most of your stay in Australia, including sessions on how best to meet Aussies and tips on travelling in Australia.

On the third day, you will be dropped off at your campus with your new friends, both local and international, whom you can look forward to to be part of your support network in the upcoming trimester.

International Registration and Enrolment Program

On Thursday, you will spend the day on campus where we give you all the crucial information you will need to make your time at Deakin a complete success.

You will also meet enrolment advisors who will be able to assist you with any enrolment questions and/or changes you may need to make for your course. There will also be other Deakin students present who have been on overseas exchange programs themselves to provide feedback and answers to any questions you may have.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
