If you are currently undertaking a course at another university and would like to complete your study at Deakin University, the application process is simple.
All applicants for undergraduate courses: part time, full time, on and off campus, should apply through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) unless otherwise stated in the admission guidelines. Find out more about how to apply to Deakin.
Deakin acknowledges that many commencing students come from backgrounds other than secondary school, such as TAFE, other universities and the workforce and offers extensive credit transfer arrangements for most courses. This can reduce the number of of units and/or time required to complete your Deakin qualification.
You should search our Credit for Prior Learning Database if you think you might be eligible to receive credit for previously complete or incomplete qualifications. Applications are also welcome from students who have completed previous studies from institutions that are not listed in the database.
All applications for credit for prior learning are reviewed by committee and will generally consider qualifications which were completed within the last 10 years.
You should check with the relevant professional body (e.g. CPA Australia) that accepting advanced standing towards your degree does not prevent you from being accepted into its membership.
When you apply for a course at Deakin, you can indicate that you wish to be considered for credit for prior learning. You can complete the credit for prior learning application form (81 KB) and forward directly to your Faculty Course Advisor.
Applicants should forward a full academic record which has been certified/notarised by the institution which awarded the qualification or certified photocopies of original transcripts. A complete assessment can be made only when full documentation has been provided. Applicants should not send original documents as they will not be returned.
For further information regarding credit for prior learning please download the Pathways to Deakin 2011 publication (5 MB).
