The association between the Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology (MIBT) and Deakin offers students an alternative entry to university studies. Students who do not meet the admission requirements for Deakin may be offered a place at MIBT.
Located on Deakin's Melbourne Campus at Burwood and Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds, MIBT provides a direct pathway to second-year undergraduate study at Deakin in the areas of business/commerce, computing/information technology, engineering, health sciences, management, and media and communication.
MIBT diplomas are equivalent to the first year of the Deakin University undergraduate degree.
On satisfactory completion of an MIBT diploma and subject to meeting University academic entrance criteria, MIBT graduates will be offered a CSP in second year of the relevant Deakin University undergraduate degree at one of the Deakin Campuses.
The advantages of MIBT include a fast-track option of three semesters per year; intakes in March, June and October; small classes and individual attention, and academic and welfare support services. For more information about MIBT pathways into Deakin visit Melbourne Institute of Business and Technology.
'After finishing year 12, I came across an advertisement in the newspaper about MIBT. I decided to go with MIBT since it provided me with the means to get into Exercise and Sports Science in university.
The small classroom-style of teaching made learning a lot easier. The lecturers were very helpful, and were easy to approach. It struck a good balance between high school and university, while building a strong foundation.'
Blake, currently studying a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University.
