Deakin's distance education coursework courses, up to and including Masters level, are externally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the US Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). Deakin is one of only four Australian universities to receive international accreditation from DETC.
Deakin students have a number of choices in how they choose to study. Study options include full-time or part-time, on or off campus or the combination of study modes.
There is the option of attending lectures on campus and to receive face-to-face teaching or study can take place remotely from the home or in the workplace.
Deakin uses online technologies to enrich learning experiences and prepares its graduates to be confident and competent using online technologies and in online environments.
This flexible approach means Deakin utilises a variety of technologies in the delivery of courses. Deakin University's lecture streaming service gives you online access to recorded lectures for many units. In addition to video and audio streaming, academic staff can provide their lectures as podcasts and downloadable MP3s.
As far back as 2004, most units had at least a basic online component with facilities for information, resources and communication.
