Student success rates
Deakin currently has nearly a thousand higher degree by research candidates. In the last ten years, of all students who have submitted their thesis for examination, 98% have been awarded their degree.
Our graduates report very high levels of satisfaction with their field of study and their supervisor. 95% reported that studying for their research degree at Deakin was rewarding, and most would choose Deakin, and their same fields of study, if they had to do it again. Our supervisors similarly received satisfaction scores of around 90% in terms of expertise, communication, availability, and, crucially for those learning to do original research, our supervisors encourage independent thinking. The reputation of our supervisors was the main reason for our research students choosing Deakin.
More importantly, over 80% of our graduates felt that doing their research degree at Deakin enhanced their career prospects.
