If you are a female student enrolling in or currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Film and Digital Media), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Film and Television),  Bachelor of Creative Arts (Photography), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Animation and Motion Capture), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Communication Design) and not born in Australia consider applying for this scholarship.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship you must be:

  • an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • Female
  • not born in Australia
  • enrolling in or currently enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Film and Digital Media), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Film and Television),  Bachelor of Creative Arts (Photography), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Animation and Motion Capture), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts), Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Communication Design)
  • able to demonstrate a social or economic disadvantage

Areas of disadvantage include:

  • full-time student who is in receipt of a Centrelink (means tested) benefit or can demonstrate that they have a personal of family taxable income below the HECS-HELP repayment threshold depending on independence status
  • social disadvantage

Selection criteria

Your application will be assessed and ranked on information you provide in your application and supporting documentation.

How to apply

Applicants can apply directly to Deakin University via the Deakin Applicant Portal.

You will be required to supply the following documentation once your on-line application has been submitted.

  • a copy of your academic progression to date/or Year 12 results
  • Two personal references (written).  The references should identify the capacity in which the referee knows you.
  • Documentation in support of your disadvantage.  Examples of possible documents you could provide are: Centrelink statement, medical certificates, counsellor letters, police reports, statement of support written by someone not related to you that can confirm the information you provided in your statement.

Applicants should be prepared to:

  • present a case for how the scholarship will assist them succeed in their course
  • show commitment to pursuing a career as an artist
  • express themselves in a unique and distinctive way

Closing date

Applications for 2013 are now open and close 15 February 2013.

Supporting documentation

As part of the application process you will also be required to send supporting documentation to the Scholarships Office by 15 February 2013.
