Deakin Laptop Scheme

The Deakin Laptop Scheme provides eligible students the opportunity to apply for a limited number of laptop and internet packages.  This package has been designed to assist students with their studies.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Deakin Laptop Scheme you must:

  • be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • be enrolled on-campus or off-campus
  • be enrolled part time or full time in Trimester 1 2013 in an approved undergraduate qualification in a Commonwealth supported place
  • have commenced your course of study in either 2012 or 2013
  • be either a recipient of a Centrelink benefit or can demonstrate that you have a personal or family taxable income below the HECS-HELP repayment threshold ($49,096) depending on independence status

Selection criteria

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the information you provide in your application and the supporting documentation you supply.

Special conditions

Whilst you may be eligible to apply for both the Deakin Laptop Scheme and the Deakin Mobile Device Scheme you cannot be awarded both.

How to apply

Applicants can apply directly to Deakin University via the Deakin Applicant Portal.

In the on-line application you will be required to complete a 300 word statement about 'How the Deakin Laptop Scheme would benefit your studies'.  In this statement you may wish to cover your:

  • financial difficulties
  • remote location (if applicable)
  • existing disability or health condition (if applicable)
  • carer responsibilities (if applicable)
  • any other disadvantage you are currently experiencing

Closing Date

Applications for 2013 are now closed.

Supporting documentation

As part of the application process you will also be required to provide supporting documentation.  You must upload your supporting documentation as part of the on-line application process.

The supporting documentation required includes evidence of:

  • your financial hardship
  • any medical condition
  • carer responsibilities
  • any other disadvantage you are experiencing
